In an effort to assist our businesses, particularly restaurants and non-essential retail, in surviving the COVID-19 social distancing and business closings, I’d like to initiate a program that I learned about and subsequently am stealing from Clear Lake and Clarion (with their blessings—they sent me all their materials to plan this). In the Chamber world, we call it “R&D” (Rip off and Duplicate) and we all do it! 😊
Here are the details:
The Eagle Grove Chamber is going to help the community purchase gift cards to local businesses, and with the help of sponsors, we are able to pass along a great deal! When an individual spends $20.00 on one gift card, they will actually receive a gift card for $30.00.
We are still looking for more businesses or individuals to “sponsor” or cover the $10 gap for 10 gift cards each ($100 per sponsor). The more sponsors we have, the more gift cards we can make available! Right now we have $1000 donatated, making 100 gift cards available. Thanks to our generous sponsors:

In this scenario, if the gift cards are sold, it puts $3,000 back into Eagle Grove businesses in the next few days.
If your company or you individually wants to get involved by sponsoring 10 gift cards or more, please let me know by responding with how many gift cards you’d like to sponsor. Gift card sponsors will be recognized on Facebook and our website(…and the next 10 gift cards are made possible by…😊). The Eagle Grove Chamber will invoice you for your commitment. If you know anyone else who would want to contribute that I missed, forward this to them!
I plan to go live on Facebook to make this announcement later this afternoon! Once our Facebook live is complete, I will post how to purchase and how distribution will work.
How “Eagle Grove Gift Card Cash Mob” will work:
1. The Chamber has built an online form to collect gift card requests. The buyer simply needs to go to the website and note what business they would like a gift card from. We are limiting 5 gift cards per person at this time, unless we are able to provide more than expected.
2. The Eagle Grove Chamber will be in contact with each business regarding how many $30 gift cards were purchased. We will then issue checks to those businesses and retrieve the gift cards or certificates.
3. Buyers will then receive their gift cards in the mail within the next few days.
