After many months of behind the scenes work, the City of Eagle Grove, in partnership with participating downtown property owners, and with coordination assistance from the Eagle Grove Chamber of Commerce, has awarded bids and is moving forward with the Downtown Façade and Streetscape projects!
The Façade Project will improve the outside appearance of the six downtown buildings, and the property owners with qualifying buildings who chose to opt in to the program will only be responsible for paying for 25% of the total price for the work. In a small downtown like ours, even six buildings will make a positive improvement! The bid was awarded to Peterson Construction based in Webster City. Work is expected to begin in November 2020 and will be completed in the Spring 2021.
The Streetscape Project will improve the sidewalks, parking areas, landscaping, and fixtures of our downtown. The project was awarded to Wicks Construction of Decorah, Iowa for $1,996,574.90. The work is expected to begin in 2021 and will be paid for using Sponsored Project dollars the City of Eagle Grove was awarded, CDBG grant funding, and a Water Quality Initiative grant.
Other notable projects in the downtown district are the building renovation at 112 N. Lucas that will house 6 upper-story apartments, a storefront, and an outdoor patio. In addition, the municipal building is receiving an exterior makeover to continue the investment in our downtown district.
